In our district, the students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with more than 60% of our students qualifying for free or reduced rate lunch. We are in a small district that is made up of hard-working families that are middle to lower class.
My students come to school from various backgrounds and are ready to learn, but they come each day with several needs, including emotional and sensory needs.
These needs must be met first, so my students can grow socially and academically. My students work hard every day to overcome challenges and obstacles to become better learners and to be successful.
My Project
In my classroom, students learn through fun, engaging lessons. These learning games will help my students with developing reading skills such as learning their letters, writing their letters and matching letters to sounds. The puppets will allow my students to retell stories with characters and develop social skills, as well as language.
My students require small group settings to be successful, so the games and small setting interactions will help them develop the necessary skills they need to be academically successful.
My students also require some fine motor tasks and sensory items. The theraputty will help strengthen my students' hands, while the sensory items will allow them to learn and meet their needs.
