My Students

My students are 5th graders located in the beautiful capital city of Charleston, WV. They are eager learners and have hearts of gold. A large majority of the students come from low socio-economic homes, but that doesn't keep them from being engaged in the classroom.

I feel that the more engaged in learning they are, the more they will enjoy it, and the more they will retain.

These students love a good game and if I can help them learn while playing one, even better!

My Project

This is the year to set the groundwork for my students' secondary education. They will move on to middle school next year and need a concrete foundation to be successful in the years to come. By having an opportunity to turn reviews and skills into games, the students will be much more likely to retain the information that I am teaching.

Increasing student engagement is the key to increasing how much each student truly learns.

My students love games and competition, so incorporating those aspects into the classroom will greatly benefit their learning experience. This will also provide those students who struggle an interactive way to learn needed skills in fifth grade.

By gaining these materials, the Eggspert and answer lights, I will be able to incorporate cooperative learning with team games. This equipment is great for getting students working together in small groups to answer questions and problems. With an adequate number of pieces, I can break students into smaller groups, so each student is more likely to participate rather than depend on the rest of a group to answer. We are excited to see who can answer fastest, please help us reach our goal so we can start playing & learning!
