Making Learning Fun in STEM

Help me give my students Makey Makey and Littlebits to explore engineering and the creative process.

My Students

My middle school students are hardworking, bright and amazing learners of STEM. They are excited to use problem solving skills and coding while developing their love for computer science. My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over one half of our students are from low income families. Our school is Title I and an ethnically diverse school in Southwest Las Vegas. My students have a variety of learning styles that are as varied as they are.

My Project

By using hands on learning activities such as Makey Makey and Littlebits, my students will be able to use the problem solving, creativity and programming skills that they learn in my STEM classroom. My students will be able to effortlessly design an interactive program that can be transferred to the Makey Makey and the Littlebits that the possibility for creativity, collaboration and critical thinking are endless.

By allowing the students to have first hand experience working with hardware, it will help create a deeper understanding for STEM and the future that it holds for them.

I'm excited to see what my students will create with these hardware kits. I am also excited that I will learn something new along the way.
