This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This is my third year as a Kindergarten teacher in a Title I school. We are a very diverse school with many needs. I am an inclusion teacher, and many of my students need preferential seating. Last year I had a few wiggle seats and was able to borrow a stability ball for some of my students. This year I would like to be able to offer them additional seating options that will allow them to do their best. Giving my students access to different seating options for them to choose from based on their needs would be great, and will allow them to feel successful regardless of their limitations. Due to limited funding we do not have many flexible seating options in our school, and the ones that we do have need to be shared with other classes who also have students with special needs. I am asking for different flexible seating options for my students to use throughout the school day to help them to feel successful and learn their best. Thank you so much for your support!

My Project

These choices of flexible seating will allow my students to choose a method that works best for them based on their needs. Many students do better when being allowed chose where in the classroom they want to sit and how they want to sit based on how their body is feeling that day. Many of my students struggle with sitting still, and the wobble seats, stability balls, and the seats that turn will allow them to move without distracting others. I can’t wait to show my students that although we ALL learn in different ways, as long as we are aware of our needs as learners we can get the job done and have fun in the process! 🎉
