We have a diverse student population, 77.8% of students are of a racial minority and 20.3% are English Language Learners. At our school, 16.2% of students qualify for Special Education services. My job is teaching students that are preschool to grade level across all subjects in the middle school setting.
Many of my students struggle to keep up in school and have had their confidence torn down because they learn differently but they come to my class because they feel safe to keep trying.
On top of this, my students often do not have access to technology at home, which creates an additional barrier for them to have access to today's resources. Going into virtual learning I want to be able to provide my students with their reading book to be able to engage in their studies to their utmost potential.
My Project
These materials will help my center-based students to learn reading, writing, math, and life skills. In a middle school environment, my students don't always have access to hands-on and accessible materials for them to be able to grow. These items will help my students learn in all areas and a lot of the items will give them hands-on experiences that they have never had. I want to give my students everything they need to be able to grow academically and in life. My students need a lot of hands-on and exciting material at their ability level.
