Our students are awesome 5 and 6 year olds -- they are eager to learn and ready for challenges! They are an enthusiastic bunch! One of the most exciting things about being a kindergarten teacher is having the opportunity to see "light bulbs" go off! It is thrilling to see their growth right before our eyes! We have the privilege of guiding children on their educational journey!
Our building is an elementary school in a small, tight-knit suburban community, and is one of two elementary schools in our district.
We have one middle school, and one high school in our district. Our students are fortunate to come from very caring, enthusiastic families. Parents typically take an active role in supporting their children, teachers, and the district.
Welcome, and thank you for visiting our page at DonorsChoose.org! I am excited to see what happens here! I humbly ask you to fund this project for our kindergarten students! Thank you for your time and for your support!
My Project
Part of my job as a K teacher is to identify the interests, strengths, weaknesses, needs, and challenges of my student population. It is my responsibility to provide a learning environment that is accommodating to all learning styles and learners. This includes gifted students, students with disabilities, as well as kinesthetic learners, visual, auditory etc. My student population is all inclusive. This means that I have students with varying ability levels. Many of my students for a variety of reasons require visual cues and support. I would like to use the mobile book storage to create a space in our classroom where all students have access to our books. This storage unit is the perfect height for my students, ages 5-6, to access to books independently. Equally as important, it allows for visual labeling. This will allow me to sort our classroom books into categories and to label them with pictures as well as words. The name plates will be used at individual student table seats. They can be used for multiple things. One way I plan to use them is to hold a daily schedule for my students with special needs to have at their seat. These students need a visual, to help support them through their school day. They can use a marker to mark activities off as they are completed.Students with behavior issues can use these plates to hold a colored behavior chart at their seat as a visual reminder of expectations. I can, of course, use them as name tag holders as well. Please consider helping to make learning materials accessible and valuable to all students in my class!
