Young. Resilient. Flexible. Inspiring. Those are the words that our students embody each and every day. A new elementary school in New York City, we're in the process of adding a grade of students every year. Currently only pre-kindergarten through third grade, our school houses primarily young learners.
Whether remotely, in school part-time, or in school full-time our students make the best of their schooling to socialize, create positive experiences, and grow.
Two out of the three years our school has been operating, we've been affected by Covid-19. These unforeseen circumstances coupled with conflicting priorities in our limited school budget has made it difficult to prepare adequately for our youngest learners. Despite all of this, our learners remain connected and invested to their education excited to learn every day, however that may look.
My Project
Our students strive to be independent learners. This means giving them the tools and helping them decide when they're best used. During any time of the day, you'll see our students using alphabet charts, word walls, math tools, and charts with useful strategies. These tools are used so often that they are visibly worn.
With a laminating machine, we'll be able to preserve important resources that help our students be independent in their learning.
Even our youngest students will be able to preserve their most important learning tools and papers. In return, our students will generate their very best work whether it be in writing, math, or science.
