Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Second grade is the time to continue building the foundation of a child's education and their love of school. I work in a Title I school with a diverse population. These children enter school with a variety of abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. Almost all of children are English language learners (ESL), some are from broken homes and some don't have homes at all. All of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Despite the challenges they face, they are so eager to learn and work hard every day to read, write and solve higher-level problems. They continuously amaze me with their determination, despite setbacks they may face at their young age.

My Project

Due to Covid regulations, a lot has changed in elementary school... but it doesn't have to! I am determined to make this holiday season something to celebrate! It may not be what we are use to but I want to give them memories to last a lifetime.

Math games make learning how to count and add seem less like work and more like fun, while authentic literature builds a love for reading.

These games and books will allow them to share their love of learning with their families. It will also encourage family time, which hopefully will bring on many laughs and memories! I am hoping that with your help I will be able to bring some joy to not only my students but to their families as well!
