My students need paper for their handouts, a classroom printer to print work out, and transparencies and markers to help them see information on the overhead projector.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need accessible information and that requires paper, a printer, and transparencies. This will help them to see, read, practice, and produce chemistry work.
I teach an amazing group of high school kids at a low income public high school in California that serves primarily minority students.
My students are motivated and hardworking. They frequently stay late after school studying chemistry and working on chemistry problems. My students have dreams and goals and I want to support them as much as I can.
My Project
A classroom printer will enable my students to obtain important information in the form of handouts, study guides, and chemistry notes and problems. My students could also use a classroom printer to print out their chemistry labs and projects. Transparencies and overhead markers will allow me to model to all of my students how to do chemistry problems. Lastly, we need paper to make all of this work. Our school gives us one box of paper per quarter, and that is never enough to make copies of everything for all my 165 students. Having several boxes will ensure that each of my students receive important handouts, problem sets, and copies of lab procedures! Individual handouts will help my students understand chemistry as information will be presented in a concrete format that is easy to see, read, and take notes on example problems on the overhead transparencies.
Donations will help give my students access to the fundamentals of chemistry.
Having enough paper, a printer, transparencies, and markers will help my students see and understand chemistry in an accessible way. Furthermore, it will also help them complete their homework, study review sheets, solve problems, complete labs and work on projects as they will have all of the information and tools they need to succeed right before them on paper!
