Making Indoor Recess Fun!

Help me give my students a way to have fun during indoor recess with games such as Connect 4, Trouble, and Tower of Math.

My Students

The students that I work with on a daily basis are creative, resilient, and love to learn something new everyday. These scholars each have their own unique goals and aspirations. They are just beginning their educational journey and want to continue to fall in love with learning. They are beginning to develop into leaders in not only our classroom but in the school and their larger community.

All students have their own lived experiences.

Some of these experiences can leave students with their own unique traumas. That can sometimes lead to a feeling of overwhelmed or frustration throughout the learning process.

These students are becoming the next doctors, lawyers, teachers, and presidents.As an educator we want to prepare our scholars to be able to advocate for themselves and their peers. They are going to be the next decision makers in their communities and the greater society. That is why it is crucial to provide students with meaningful and purposeful learning experiences.

My Project

During these cold winter months we have had to spend weeks at a time indoor for recess.

After watching several movies and having some free time on computers we all become bored and can become frustrated with the lack of activities to do!

There are several board games I am requesting. Some have a focus on math which will be fun for students while also reviewing important math skills! There are some other board games such as trouble and connect four that will have students work on their strategic thinking skills!

I am also requesting some magnetic building blocks. These blocks will give students a creative outlet to either build houses, towers, or other pieces of architecture.

All of the games I am requesting require students to play with their peers. This will help students who may struggle with peer communication and interaction practice! A lot of my students are English Language Learners it can be stressful to communicate in class if they are still learning the language, the goal is these games will give students practice in a fun and creative way.
