My students need post-its and chart paper for classroom activities including carousel walks, note taking for independent reading, silent discussions, and so on.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In order to capture the minds of multiple learners, teachers have to use a variety of strategies. One material that is especially useful to me are post-its and chart paper. I go through them like crazy! My students take notes on their reading books, we do whole class activities, and more.
At my school, the administration and parents are very supportive of literacy and encourage books that will motivate all readers.
Reading is strongly supported and we are always looking for ways to improve motivation and reading achievement.
My Project
I am always running low on post-its and chart paper! I do many activities with chart paper such as group work, presentations, silent discussions, carousel walks, etc. Post-its are used on the chart paper for most of those activities and they are also used in their independent reading books so they can take notes on what they are reading. This also reaches students with disabilities because it involves kinesthetic teaching (to different charts) and post-its help students monitor his/her thinking.
This will make a difference in my students' lives because they will be able to participate in a variety of classroom activities that will engage them and help them better understand class material.
