My Project
Making History Come Alive is a project that is done every year in sixth, seventh and eighth grade. These students compete in a variety of categories for National History Day. Many of my students don’t have the money to purchase the materials needed to complete their projects effectively, so they use the resources I have available in the library. Unfortunately these resources have been largely used up, leaving nothing for future projects.
This project teaches students to look at a historic topic, analyze the details, and draw conclusions based on their research.
They then take their information and transform it into a website, performance, documentary, or exhibit board. The need a variety of resources like paper, lots of glue and hot glue sticks, and sharpies.
My students love showing off their art skills through these history day projects. They take great pride in creating winning projects and enjoy showing them off to the other students in our school. Creating these projects also allows students to work in collaboration with each other to compete as a group.
