Making Heart Health Fun!!

Help me give my students a better understanding of how their heart health works and how important it is!

My Project

Obesity has become a very prevalent issue in the United States and one of the biggest contributors to this issue is inactivity. The heart and heart rate also plays a huge role in a child's ability to maintain a healthy weight. I have discussed heart health and target heart rates during PE in the past, but getting accurate heart rates for a large group of lower elementary students has proven to be very difficult. Most students are not able to find their heart beats or they struggle to accurately count their beats if they do. These heart rate monitors will help provide accurate heart health information to our kids and also give them an amazing visual of their work load in real time. My hope is that our kids will be inspired to increase their physical activity in class once they are given their real time results. I am also looking forward to providing my students with some new competitions based on their data to help promote physical activity and heart health as well!!
