This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As teachers of students with disabilities in a low-income and high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with meaningful learning experiences.
The students in my school are smart, engaging, funny, eager to learn, and we believe in collaboration and having a positive learning environment.
I am currently teaching second-grade, third grade, fourth-grade and fifth-grade remote special education students who have difficulty with both reading and math.
My Project
Great Leaps will help my students become the readers they want to be. The Great Leaps program is a one on one reading program that will help struggling readers become great readers. The students that I have worked with the school year have made significant gains in reading and this progress using this program.
They become so excited when they reach a goal is such a great feeling not only for them but for me.
They love to work with this program because they know they are making growth and strive to reach their goals daily.
