My Project
When my students come into the speech room we work on many things including encouraging early literacy skills. Helping the students to find the speech sounds they're working on in their favorite books is a part of that. We use a few tools for this including marking the sounds with Post-it notes in their books so they have a good visual of how many times people may be using their speech sounds in just one book! The students also like to make a list of the words in the books either in their own notebooks or on lined Post-it notes.
My students love being able to have their own projects to work on while in my room.
This also includes portable carrying cases for current projects they're working on. Sometimes we're working on holiday or themed projects. These might include fall pumpkin projects, a winter snowman, four-leaf clover craft button bouquets, and spring cardstock tulips. These carrying cases will keep their projects safe when they don't have a chance to finish them during their session. The brightly colored cardstock will give the students the materials to make the crafts they love!
