My Project

Please help me purchase books, books, BOOKS for interesting and informative discussions for multi-language learners! At our Denver metropolitan area charter school, we serve nearly a thousand children from all over the globe -- Africa, Eurasia, South and North America. Our students come from homes with over 50 different native languages.

Our school serves students in grades K-12.

With these books, three reading clubs will be able to study great literature on different levels: The One and Only Ivan for the youngest, Holes for middle grades, and The Catcher in the Rye for high school.

Book will open doors for newcomer immigrants who hope for a better life here in the United States. Our discussions will make students aware that people from every culture can make friends and influence good decisions in America. How do people here connect with others when they wish to make social changes? Maybe you remember hearing about The One and Only Ivan, a book that sheds light on hope for a better life for animals. Or perhaps you heard about Holes, a book where kids come together to help one another for emotional shelter when they are away from home. Catcher in the Rye shows how older siblings can choose to be guardians and protectors to the young. This is exciting, award-winning, dynamic reading material will allow students to learn language while discovering new friends at a school book club.

Our school teaches students who are highly motivated and hard-working. They strive every day to achieve academic excellence. I hope you will join me in my efforts to form book clubs to support immigrant achievers. I tell them, "Being bilingual is your superpower." Let's work together to make sure that stays true.
