This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My K-2 students with special needs have shown a keen interest in Thomas and Friends characters and the toy trains associated with them. These toys have not only captured their imagination but have also encouraged them to engage with peers and classroom staff during playtime. The "Take-n-Play" trains and track play sets are designed to be accessible, interactive, and adaptable, making them ideal for my students.
Thomas and Friends toys provide an excellent platform for encouraging social play for my students with autism.
These toys will provide ample opportunities for my students to engage with their peers, practice turn-taking, and develop crucial social and play skills. By playing with these toys, my students have the opportunity to improve their communication skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, as they share their excitement and experiences with their classmates. Additionally, manipulating the push and go trains and unfolding the track sets will allow for the development of fine and gross motor skills. Having these toys to use during free play will not only enhance their social skills but also contribute to their overall development and well-being.
