My Students

Have you ever felt like you were behind the times with the technology you have to use in your everyday life? My students feel like that at school every day. We have very outdated computers that have been at the school longer than my students have been alive!

My class is a looping first, second, and third grade classroom in a public Montessori school.

We have a variety of ability levels in our class aside from the different grade levels. Some students are gifted and talented and some students have special needs. Students in my class work independently or in small groups on individualized work plans set to their individual level. Lessons are given in small groups that are determined by academic readiness for new content.

My Project

My students love to learn. Currently, they are very interested in animals and other cultures from all around the world. We recently started our study of the Fundamental Human Needs and they have been very interested in what the same needs look like in different places around the world. Because the technology that we have access to in our classroom is very unreliable, it is difficult for students to do independent work that utilizes technology. With an iPad and protective accessories, students will easily be able to independently access information and activities that require technology.

My project is important because my students deserve the best!

They all want to be able to use technology and are often disappointed when our current technology is not working. My students get frustrated with their independent and creative projects because of the technological difficulties and it shouldn't have to be that way. An iPad will help solve some of our technology issues and will encourage and motivate my students to research the topics that interest them.
