My Students
We are a happy group from the area of Santa Monica, CA. From the exterior, one can tell my students are awesome by their outlook on life. They are quick to smile, show affection, and like all students crave positive interactions with both their community and peers. Anyone that knows my students will say that they do not have a mean bone in their bodies. Some might say that it takes an enormous amount of patience to serve this kind of population, but when you have the students that I do and you try to see from their position, the development of purpose and perspective almost automatically take place.
Our purpose is to highlight a student's strengths and needs, make a plan to improve the quality of resources given, and implement a guide to lead them towards a brighter tomorrow.
This is only done by getting to know who my students are, learning how to attain the best tools, and finding a way to reach them. With your help, we will be able to reach even further.
My Project
Our classroom's culminating activity is to create a digital photobook, as well as use the Fujifilm instax photos to create mini yearbooks. This has been our way to document our year and highlight our memories.
This project is one of the most meaningful projects we have had to date and we need some more film to take pictures of the other amazing things we do in and out of the community.
In addition, the flash drives will be filled with digital memories and given to each student. All of my students have been finding use with the previous beanbag chair, so to acquire another one will help to allow those with orthopedic needs to have access when needed. We had also used DC last year to fund our butterfly pavilion and it went so well that this year our hope is to host a ladybug pavilion to observe their life cycle. We will release them at the Santa Monica public garden, where we released our butterflies last year.
We always need wipes to ensure a clean environment and our old shredder has taken a beating that it appears a new one is in order.
