Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a low-income/high-poverty school district located in the Bronx. They are curious, bright eyed, amazing little ones who will fill your heart with hope. They are eager to learn, explore and collaborate with one another as they make daily discoveries about the world around them.
My students face different challenges both in and out of the classroom; Many of these amazing little explorers are in school for the first time and two-thirds are English language learners.
In spite of various challenges, the classroom is a safe haven where these exceptional children can thrive!
I hope to provide my students with resources and materials that will make learning truly come alive for them! With access to the right tools and support, they will have memorable learning experiences, which they will be more likely to internalize. All donations will go a long way, and are appreciated more than I could begin to describe.
My Project
The addition of items such as an ironing board set, doll clothes, cash register and puppet stand in our dramatic play center would truly enhance such a central part of our classroom! Students would be able to engage in pretend play, act out real-life scenarios, and make home-to-school connections that are more likely to make an impact on their learning while in school!
Additional dramatic play items would greatly improve our classroom environment and would give students endless opportunities to engage in pretend play while also developing many important skills.
These items will provide students with options that will help to develop various skills, including receptive/expressive language--all while engaging in their own magical world where the possibilities are endless!
