My Students
Our school is an environmental haven where our students learn not only academic subjects, but their roles as global citizens. The students utilize nature to enrich their learning and create opportunities for community outreach, sustainable alternatives, and the simple enjoyment of being outdoors.
Theatrical arts education is lacking in this creative environment.
I've started a drama program for the school but our school does not have the equipment necessary for a quality production that can introduce a new passion for these students. We need a set of headset microphones for our talented students to be heard during their performance as they sing and act for their peers and families. A contribution of this equipment will help foster a love of theatre in our students that will begin with our program and continue throughout their lives.
My Project
For the first time in our school's history, there is a drama program available to the third through eighth grade students. We are starting from the ground up with very little equipment to put on a full musical. Although we are working with recycled materials for sets and costumes, we are lacking the proper sound equipment for our actors to be heard.
This may be the first theatrical experience for these kids and we want to make sure that they have every opportunity to shine.
Theatre creates many opportunities for students that they are unable to get from any other activity. With a sound system for our program, these students will feel confident speaking in front of groups, expressing their creativity through their characters, and bring theatre to a new community.
