Making Cursive Fun!

My students need a cursive program that is complete and not pieced together. I need 30 chalkboards, dustless chalk, and erasers so that each child has an opportunity to practice cursive.

My Students

Schools are not funding programs anymore and with that we can not get all the pieces needed to make a program successful.

I have 30 fabulous third grade students.

Most of them are boys. Since school budgets are tight, we no longer recognize class size reduction. I absolutely adore this group. They are busy and need as much movement as possible. My class is full of smiling kids and eager to learn every day.

My Project

I am requesting a class set of chalkboards (with lines), chalk, and erasers. I went to a "Handwriting Without Tears" seminar and left excited to teach cursive. We were shown some hands on ideas that keep the children engaged and excited to practice cursive. The chalkboard is one way to involve the class. They will practice their letters on the board and then trace them with a wet sponge. It is called "Wet, Dry, Try."

Our school does not have money to keep classroom curriculum updated.

Classroom equipment is no longer viewed as a need, it is a want. Kids need to have enough class materials so that everyone can participate together. We need complete class sets.
