My Students

We are a Title I school on the Windward Side of Oahu whose student demographic is comprised mainly of students of Native Hawaiian ancestry. Given the proper setting, care, compassion, and supplies, these students can and do thrive.

When you talk about children that are resilient and have heart, that is the type of student I teach; they continue to work hard despite facing obstacles on a daily basis that some adults couldn't possibly fathom.

They are why I love being a teacher.

These students are lively, energetic, and passionate and they have an internal drive to succeed that can be brought forth with thoughtful lesson planning, good source material for differentiation, and the assistance of technology.

My Project

Classroom projectors are a thing of the past, or they should be. Projectors can't come close to the clarity and crispness that an LCD screen can provide.

From powerpoint presentations to on-line content, students and teachers struggle with all participants being able to hear and see and therefore access educational content with equity - professional industries have solved this dilemma with large LCD screens, but there's never enough funding for our classrooms to catch up.

This project and it's materials will bring the engaging environment of professional presentations and development into the classroom and help engage students the same way this same technology engages adults.

My school just doesn't have the money to invest in these types of classroom supports, and while we have projectors, the projectors that we do have were never intended to be used on a whiteboard and my classroom doesn't have a proper projector screen.
