My Students

My students are awesome! I have a extremely diverse population of students. I teach Art 1 and have about 150 students total. My school is part of the Cincinnati Public Schools district. What makes my school unique is the international students. Students coming to the United States from foreign countries living in Cincinnati are enrolled at Withrow University High School. Students are from Nepal, Guatemala, Africa just to name a few. The students are ELL, and learning to speak English and adapt to their new environment. They love culture and Art and I love letting them experience it in my art room.

My Project

My students need Scholastic Art magazine to enhance my visual arts curriculum. An extremely important part of Art Education is exploring Art History. My students need more exposure to culture and the arts. A well rounded arts education involves literature, history and art production. I have used Scholastic Art magazine in the past and this magazine is a wonderful resource with beautiful images and updated articles that will make connections in my classroom. This magazine features the masters to contemporary artists with project related activities. I love using this resource in the classroom students will read articles as a class, have discussions and apply things they have learned to make creative projects.
