My students are fifth graders from low-income immigrant families. They are English language learners. All of our students qualify for the free meal program. We are a Title I school as well as a Performance Improvement School. Many of my students are struggling to learn and understand English with no help from their parents. The children love science, but our learning is limited to textbooks, paper, and pencil. I know that if we provide them with the right support, resources, and opportunities, they can experience success. To ease the struggle, your donation will help me and motivate our English Learners the importance of financial literacy. Students learn more by practicing concepts in many ways such as team activities, games and real life connections.
My Project
Financial literacy is a skill all children should have starting at a young age. Teaching students about money will help them discover the relationships between earning, spending and saving. In doing this, children also begin to understand the value of money. Board games I am requesting will student learn about financial literacy and work through real life decisions.
The games will help students make better life decisions and better financial decisions while playing with our friends.
It will also help with their social skills since our classroom is all computers students barely get a chance to interact with each other. With the games, students will be learning about budgeting, retirement, savings, investments, borrowing money, and insurance.
