My Project
We are requesting games and literature about money. Learning about our economy and supply and demand is a second grade standard for both social studies and math! In the Spring we are planning a grade level economics fair where students will “buy” and “sell” items to each other. These games and books would give our students the background to understand our monetary system. Through literature and reading stories about finances they will be able to relate and explore their own finances.
Teaching financial literacy is arguably just as important as being literate these donations will help our students thrive in their own understanding of the basics of money.
When students learn through these games in small groups and center rotations they mimic our real world experiences. This pretend play is how we teach students to be ready for the real world. In addition connecting characters in these books allows students to see how our curriculum is tied together. Everything we do overlaps and makes us grown and learn.
