My Project

The students in my Title I elementary school come from countries all over the world. They speak over a dozen languages and many are learning English for the first time.

Our students develop at different rates and sometimes need modified learning supports to help them reach their developmental milestones.

Each student carries a unique history with them wherever they go. When they enter my gymnasium each week, they all work towards a set of unified learning standards in Physical Education. Their roads all lead to the same destination, but they each travel a unique and diverse pathway on that journey.

Often, we connect to our cultural roots to discover similarities. The world map on our wall gives us a shared reference point to trace our physical heritage and cultural game and sports experiences. Wide tape is used throughout the year to mark boundary lines on the gymnasium floor and to hang the map and other important Physical Education anchor charts on the walls. The magnetic hooks let us hang pocket charts on our whiteboard to guide our practice in the gym and the dry-erase spray helps us keep that same board clean between classes.
