We are a multicultural classroom. The majority of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. We have a large population of migrant students from various places. The largest would be Somali students. For some of our students, this is their first time going to school in America.
Many of our students are trauma-impacted, low-income students.
These students view school as their safe place and a place where they can be themselves.
We have a very supportive community that is built mostly of refugees.
My Project
I would like to have our students make fleece tie blankets to donate to the area Children's hospital.
Our school tries to teach our students empathy for others and that it is good to do things for others.
The staff at our school wants our students to learn what it feels like to be able to give back.
I am asking for 80 yards of fleece so that students will be able to make fleece tie blankets and donate them to the area Children's hospital. This is a hospital that a lot of our students know and that some have either been in or have family members that have been in.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
