My Project
I am thrilled to be teaching AP Biology for the first time at my school during the 2025-2026 school year! Drawing inspiration from previous professional development workshops and my mentors at this school, I plan to implement interactive notebooks to make biology more engaging and memorable.
An interactive notebook serves as an all-in-one resource for students that they can use as a study tool.
Throughout the year, they will add reference pages, drawings, notes, foldables, and worksheets to their journals.
My goal for this project is to provide my students with everything they need to set up their interactive journals so they can start adding to them right away. Our students are incredible and work hard to maximize their learning experience, but they often lack the resources to purchase everything required for the classroom. I want all of my students to benefit from the interactive notebooks without the added pressure of having to buy a composition notebook, glue sticks, tabs, or tape.
I am starting this project early because I will be on maternity leave at the beginning of the school year, which may make the transition to biology a bit more challenging for my students. My hope is to have everything prepared so that when I return, we can use the setup of our interactive notebooks as a review for the units I miss and to help me get to know my students as they decorate their journals.
