Our Community Evening School works together to teach students ranging from ages 16 to adult. Courses which are offered vary between grades 9-12. Students are given an opportunity to develop a positive behavior, develop good study skills, and demonstrate a sincere willingness to return to their their academics while remaining an active member in their community. This program will enable students to further their education at the college level and offers students support in achieving this goal.

Students in this setting see our educational program as their last chance to further their education. This is the place where lifelong learners are gained, fostered, and succeed in obtaining their high school diploma. We work inside the town's high school but run a separate program altogether. Therefore, there is a very limited budget, for a very diverse group of individuals. Our supplies needed for the classroom include the basics and are not geared towards the art classroom. When the students finally get around to taking their art class it usually means they are extremely close to graduating. I don't want to have students with there minds made up that "it's just a requirement" or "I just want to pass". I want this class to be something that they are excited about attending and look forward to each meeting.

In order to achieve success and make the students proud of their achievements, several of the requested items will be beneficial. The projects for this class involve creating our own clothes and prints which is where our hinge clamps would come in very handy with screenprinting. We struggle when it's time to take turns holding screens in the exact place necessary. Matboards and a cutter will help to display proud works of art in our community created by the students. Pencils, glue, paper, and tape are necessities in making the class activities possible. Also, to tie in multicultural projects we have introduced origami projects which is why we have asked for your help in getting origami paper. Lastly, the request for a paper crimper will be one way to spice up all of our projects. This will be something new with which we can experiment. Students have demonstrated their willingness to put forth the efforts in order to achieve great things. Questionnaires and evaluations have proved that these materials will help them in being able to make the kind of art that they have selected.

With your help, the students will achieve great things. They will rise above and display and share their work with others. Behind their work, a part of them will know that it wouldn't have been possible without people who are willing to help in making the difference.
