This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My prekindergarten students are very curious and enthusiastic! They enter my classroom every day excited and eager to learn. They are constantly asking questions, making discoveries, and trying to make sense of the world around them.
My prekindergarten students attend a Title I school in a large urban district.
All of the students at the school qualify for the Federal Free Lunch Program. The students are predominately Latino and the majority of them are English Language Learners. Despite their disadvantaged background, my students are enthusiastic children who enter my classroom every day ready to learn.
My Project
Due to the school closures caused by the pandemic, my students will not be able to experience going to the art center in our preschool classroom.
I plan to send the art materials in this project home so students can create a space for art at home.
Art is a joyful experience for young children. My students will be able to use the collage boards, pom-poms, foam shapes, wiggly eyes and glue sticks to explore and create unique works of art. They will have so much fun with these materials!
Providing opportunities for children to engage in creative art experiences is important during these uncertain times. Using the art materials in this project will have a positive impact on my students' mental and emotional wellness. It will nurture their social-emotional needs. When students engage in art experiences they feel relaxed, successful and better able to cope with the world around them.
