Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Could you imagine playing hide and seek in a wardrobe that leads into another world? And while you are in that world, you'd never miss a moment of your life or family? What about your brother betraying you to the White Witch, and your only hope being a lion named Aslan?
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is one of the most amazing novels that I have ever read with my students! The imagery, the fantasy, and the written words of the story jumps from the pages leaving everyone with the desire to read more. My students begged me (honestly!) to keep reading the book and listening to the CD that was borrowed from another teacher. The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe was so captivating to them that while they read, no one moved. Their class discussions were empowering!
I told the other teachers that all of my students (even the ones who refuse to read) love to hear and read the story of the Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. The only problem is that I lack materials for each student to have a book. I only had 5 copies and borrowed 5 more from another teacher. We all listened while another person read or the students were put in groups to hear the fantastic tale of Peter, Edmund, Lucy, and Susan.
This year, I would like for all of my students to read along having their own book. I am asking for twenty-five copies of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I am also asking for the audio version on CD. The CD is great for fluency, and also allows the students to hear the characters voices and dives them deeper into the story! Thank you for everything!
