Help me give my students an Apple iPad to use with an Apple Pencil that a generous community memember has donated to us.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Olson's classroom raised $460

My Students
My students are engaging and challenging. They have a thirst to learn the new and exciting and create something different and defining. Yet, they are held back by the resources available to them. Many work on creating art outside of the classroom using what they can find on their own. Whether it is YouTube tutorials, free software for their personal electronic devices, or as much blank paper as they can find somewhere to draw on with whatever writing utensil they can get their hands on. These are constantly working to define what art is to them and find their own voices as artists.
My Project
21st century is technology driven. So much of our lives are digital now. Students are thirsting for the chance to make their art digital. By providing the students with an iPad to create art they will be able to have that opportunity. One of our generous community members has provided us with an Apple pencil we are in need of the iPad to go with it. When using an Apple pencil with an iPad you are able to use apps that incorporate the traditional art skills like pressure control and line quality. A student who is working on their art project digitally can sit with a student who is working traditionally and follow the same directions and procedures.
Let me tell you, some of the ways, we will be using the iPad.
First, I will be allowing the students to take turns using the iPad on different projects, so that they will be able to experience the creation of art from both sides traditional and digital. Second, students will be using the iPad to post art work for parents using an app called Class Dojo. This will allow parents insight into the student’s classroom experiences and allow them to celebrate their many achievements. Finally the use of the iPad will allow us as a class an opportunity to learn about being a safe and responsible digital citizen. We will practice sharing images and thoughts on safe platforms and in a responsible manner.
