This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A typical day in our media center is a flurry of activity. Students are learning, researching, writing, typing and practicing skills. But it's time that we add something new. Our kids would love to join in on the MakerSpace fun that other schools have started.
I work with 600 students from high poverty, but high energy backgrounds.
They're eager to learn and try new things, but lack some of the necessary resources needed for a high quality, high interest MakerSpace.
My Project
Today's libraries go far beyond providing books and research skills for students. These learning commons encourage creativity and creating. MakerSpaces are built to do just that. Students are given opportunities to problem-solve and build solutions to those problems.
In order to create a functioning MakerSpace in our library, we're in need of just a few materials to help get us there.
We've already started creating our space but, we'll need some new comfortable seating and some MakerSpace kits to get us started. Please help propel my students into the future of teaching and learning with a new and improved MakerSpace.
