My students need math games to invigorate their curiosity and strengthen their number sense. They also need pencils, erasers, and every day materials. Lastly, they need storage carts to effectively organize their group work!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are bilingual learners, and most of them have been at our school since kindergarten. As sixth graders, students have a lot of responsibility and are expected to be role models for their younger peers. They are cheerful, bright, and ready to learn individuals who crave challenge. My students value academics, but are also intrigued by different cultures and diversity within the community surrounding them. In mathematics, they cheer when we solve problems, and they always ask for extra homework.
In math class, my students are constantly craving new content!
They have become so confident in their math skills, and love to try new problems and activities that push their mathematical thinking!
My Project
My students have made an enormous amount of progress in math. They love to be challenged and love to solve math problems that excite them. Because my classroom is inquiry based, I use LOTS of math projects to keep them engaged.
But, they always tell me they wish I had more math board games and card games for them to play!
This project would help infuse that into my classroom! Students love to learn through play, even at the middle school age! The storage carts are for them to organize all of their group and partner work. The card games and board game sets are for them to use to learn new skills, practice old skills, and help each other practice skills!
