A typical day in my classroom starts with many questions. "Ms. M., what are we doing on Computer Science Day?" By the end of the year, I want my students to anticipate the future of STE(A)M! "Education is learning what you didn't even know you didn't know."-D. Boorstin
Innovation is derived from powerful collaboration and problem-solving skills.
My students range from grades Kindergarten to fifth. The socioeconomic status is a factor because our students are from high poverty homes. At our school 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. We have a high population of Hispanic, Native American Indians, and African Americans.
I am requesting a Makey Makey STEM pack for an experience to make science come alive. Remote learning has become a new norm for my students. They have their mobile devices at home, and we are able to maintain a regular schedule and participation in learning. I was really amazed at all the computer science coding projects that my students were able to do via remote learning.
Computer science has remained consistent via remote and distance learning for my students.
It is amazing how they were able to adapt to working at home and their parents being able to pick up and drop off work created by students. The Makey Makey kits will help alter science class physically and remotely. My students had a chance to work with some Makey Makey kits and it really brought joy, teamwork, and collaboration into my classroom. Now I would love to bring a classroom set into the classroom and provide check-in and check-out system for remote learning.
