My students are talented, creative, and eager to learn, however, we have limited funds for purchasing supplies. Being a rural district, we face unique challenges.
My students come from very diverse backgrounds and get the benefit of a small town educational experience.
My students may live on a farm, ranch or "in town". When they are not in school, they spend the majority of their time being active. They play football, soccer, and kickball. They wrestle, ride horses, and compete in karate and 4H. We have a great school community. There are no strangers in our school. The students know everyone from their classmates and peers, to every teacher, janitor, librarian and office staff member. New students are accepted and welcomed with open arms.
My Project
From creating musical fruit to coding games with Scratch, these Makey Makeys will open up an exciting world of creativity for my students. In my room, students have access to computers but are ready for a new challenge. Makey Makeys will give them that challenge.
With 12 Makey Makeys, my students will be able to work collaboratively to design and create projects using every day objects.
Not only will students be able to code using Makey Makeys, they will learn about electricity and building simple electrical circuits, which will be key to making their inventions work. These devices will challenge my students as they grow from beginning coders to Makey Makey experts. They will be limited only by their own imaginations!
