My Students

We are a great school with 500+ elementary students; all of whom come through my classroom twice a week. They love to learn and love to play and in music class, so I try to allow for both. The school itself is a wonderful place that allows students to learn in a safe and kind environment. I am very proud of our school for being innovative, and our principal supports teachers thinking outside the box. Teachers are always looking to find ways to create excitement and curiosity in their students, and I am no different in that regard.

My Project

Our school is great about giving our students creative ways to learn and use technology as a learning tool! My students are enthusiastic about incorporating technology into their classes, music included!

Working to think creatively encourages independent learning where students are not afraid to try new things and are not afraid of failure.

In my class, it is a safe place to make mistakes as that is how we learn. Makey Makey uses closed circuits to turn ordinary objects like bananas into instruments with use of their circuit board and a computer.

Our school is fortunate to have chrome books for the students to use so we will work on basic coding to allow students to create an instrument, then working collaboratively to compose a basic song with those instruments.
