My students need a code and go activity set with a robot mouse, a Makey Makey Invention kit, a math coding activity set, hard storage cases and two STEM/coding books to learn about coding!
I teach at a Title I school in Virginia Beach. I have eighteen first grade students in my class. They are busy, eager to learn, and always on the go - moving, thinking, creating and BUILDING! In first grade, I am constantly looking for innovative and creative ways to motivate my children to want to learn and CREATE!
My students enjoy working together in small groups and participating in hands on, student-centered problem solving activities!
I want my students to be successful creators, builders, thinkers and problem solvers! What better way to encourage this than by providing the best learning environment possible for their eager minds to grow!

My Project
One of my goals as an elementary school teacher is to challenge the young minds of my students. My students are excited about math lessons and love to spend time reading, but their heart is really driven by opportunities to problem solve! So much of what we do in the classroom is driven by the curriculum, therefore it is important that they see values in other areas of education like STEM. My students love hands-on learning opportunities! It is so important that we begin preparing our students now for the careers that may not even exist today. As technology advances, so must our learning opportunities.
This Makey Makey kit, Robot mouse activity kit and robot mouse will allow them to experience coding first hand in our classroom.
Not only will they learn to code, but these materials will also be used to reinforce math, spelling, and reading concepts as well! Students will be able to program the mouse to find the solution to problems and cheer as their hard work pays off! I am so excited to see what my students can accomplish!
