Imagine a classroom where students are eager to come and learn each day. A place where students have to think through a problem, research, develop solutions, build, test, and (quite often) restart. Do you want to know the best part?
My students are learning and critically thinking every single class period, but they do not even realize it because they are having fun!
Yes, there are times they get frustrated at their hard work not working they way they planned, but they still keep going and learning. We are a class of thinkers, planners, builders, explorers. We are engineers!
My students will use their Makey Makey kits to explore complete and incomplete circuits, applying this knowledge to improve the world around us in a meaningful way.
Students will explore issues in the world around them, come up with solutions that can be solved through applied circuits connected with a program they design with MIT's Scratch program.
Great examples of this are helping special needs students have better access to games looking at their mobility issues and helping someone with visual issues to become more independent with sensors. So not only are we learning great content for engineering, but we are becoming more aware of the issues around us.
