Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students from urban Los Angeles are typical kids who love learning and having fun! Some have come back to school physically while others are still zooming online. You can hear their laughter and the mix of English and Spanish through our zoom calls! They are excited to use their new student devices they recently got for remote instruction. These kids enjoy reading comics, doodling, playing video games with each other during lunch, making videos of themselves, and just simply being with their friends and teachers!
My Project
I am planning to run an after-school makery club to re-engage students as they return to face to face learning, and this professional development will help me learn the skills I need to do that!
I will learn how to code micro:bits using MakeCode to create advanced makery projects with accessories.
I will learn from experts with the Micro:bit Educational Foundation to create lessons that foster digital creativity across curriculum in all grade levels.
I will network with teachers from across the US and get ideas how they use micro:bits with their classrooms, especially English Language Learners I serve.
