Makerspace Professional Learning Opportunity

I need the opportunity to learn more about makerspaces so that I can apply this to my lessons with students at my school!

My Students

My school is very diverse with the majority of our students being Hispanic. We also have one of the worst buildings in the county but that does not stop us. Instead, we work hard to provide experiences to our students that will help them continue their education in a positive way.

One of the things that we strongly focus on is project-based learning.

I am building a maker space so that all of our students have a way to design and create projects that will use higher level thinking.

My Project

I would love to be able to attend the Pathfinders Summer Institute to learn more about how to run my makerspace effectively. I was fortunate enough to get funded last summer and found that it was the best professional learning experience. I learned how to plan lessons so that students were challenged.

This summer I would like to return to expand the information I already learned.

There is so much to learn about running a makerspace that even though I have been trying to do this at my school for the past school year, I still feel like a novice. More training equals better educational experiences for my students so any support is greatly appreciated.
