My students need these materials to make, create, and collaborate in a common space.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are a diverse group of kids that come from all walks of life. I have kids that come from section 8 housing; as well as, foster kids, and middle income students.
Due to our higher number of lower income students we are considered an at-risk school.
However, because of our middle income families, we are unable to get Title I funding which would provide so many more resources. Regardless of socioeconomics, all my students are energetic, curious, and enthusiastic learners!
Students need a place to gather in order to make and create. This place will be in the heart of the school. Where is that place? It is the school library which provides students with so much more than books. My dream is to create a learning commons. A safe place for students to come together to work and collaborate. Whether they are researching, planning or building, I want my environment to be user friendly. A place where students of all ages can come, join in, and create something exciting. I would like to have a lego area for my students to be able to use their imagination and build, build, build. They will measure, find area and perimeter, engineer and create. So many curriculum standards can be hit just by having students working in this area.
