Help me give my students My goal is to create a makerspace that is stocked with materials that can meet the diverse interests and connect to students' passions.

My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds. I have students that come from well educated parents to single family homes to children in foster care. My students range in exposure to a well saturated educational environments at home, but these same students share the quality of high performing. These students are leaders and have a thirst for more knowledge. They are creative and intuitive with bright minds. Their since of wonder is inspiring to all of us that have the pleasure of teaching them.

My Project

Participation in the makerspace will impact the students by engaging all learners. My students continue to grow in STEM related activities both independently and in collaborative groups. In addition, these materials will guide students toward becoming innovative and resourceful as well as develop a deep understanding of difficult concepts.

The students will use these supplies to take risks, to solve problems and to learn to iterate from failures and mistakes in order to achieve success.

These skills help to mold our students into Markers, students that believe that if you can imagine it, you can make it. We need students that are not afraid to fail and are intrinsically motivated to learn from their mistakes. Allowing kids to be Makers promotes many aspects of what 21st century learning is all about and gets students thinking early about possibilities in STEM-related careers.
