Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day inquisitive minds walk into the library thirsting to learn more about their favorite topics. I love to hear my students chatting about their favorite books with one another and I enjoy helping them find their next great read.

My students have the desire to learn and to become out of the box thinkers.

More than 80% of these students are living at or below the poverty level and do not have access to tools to help them explore, be creative and to think outside the box.

My Project

These materials will allow my students to create plans, problem solve, collaborate with peers and evaluate their learning.

Schools have an overabundance of cardboard.

The Makedo Kit will allow students to recycle and build whatever is in their imagination. The Picasso Tiles, Strawbees STEM Kit, and Legos will allow students to use their imaginations to construct bridges, roads, and buildings. Using these tools will allow the students to discover what they need to build these structures while working collaboratively with peers. The Ozobots will give them the opportunity to learn to code using simple commands. This skill is useful in learning sequencing, perseverance, and problem-solving.

These activities will cover the following TEKS Science - 3.3A, 4.3A, 5.3A Math - 3.1A, 3.1B, 3.1C, 4.1A, 4.1B, 4.1C, 5.1A, 5.1B, 5.1C
