This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my fifth year as a teacher, and every year, I continue to learn. Through the supportive staff and the amazing opportunities to grow as a teacher, I can't see what there isn't to love.
My students are what drive me every single day to not only be a better person, but to be a better teacher.
Working at a Title I school, my students come from many different backgrounds, but coming from a different background has not stopped them from wanting to come to school and bettering themselves as students. Their enthusiasm and love for learning is the light on the darkest of days. Although they all learn a different way, they always want to help each other within the classroom and outside of the classroom. As a teacher, I couldn't want anything more.
My Project
In my classroom I have a Makers Space filled with STEM Bins. I would love to add art supplies to my Makers Space to allow my students to be more creative when it comes to adding STEAM into my classroom.
Giving my students choice in the morning to allow for creativity and social skills is something that is very important to me.
I know students have enough going on in the mornings before school and sometimes they just need to socialize and play, which is the purpose of my morning choice. My morning choice currently just has STEM toys in which students can build and play, however I would like art supplies to allow them to be more creative.
I have asked for a variety of art supplies to bring the A, in STEAM alive. I have asked for paints and paintbrushes, along with heavy duty paper and posters. I have also asked for oil pastels, foam, glue and craft supplies to all make art come to live as students play in the morning. Lastly, I have asked for modeling clay so students can build 3D structures too.
