My Students
Hands-on learning is something that parents are requesting more and more each year, so why are teachers still drowning students in worksheets? School should be more meaningful than a worksheet, and I want to give that opportunity to my kids by giving them a chance to do more-- to build more. Engaging, non-consumable Makerspace STEM materials will give my students chances to strain their brains and get them excited to come to school.
These students are the future Scientists, Tech Gurus, Engineers, and Mathematicians of the world.
These kids are so capable and have the drive to accomplish these huge dreams, so they should be introduced to STEM activities early on. Makerspace materials will allow my students to train their brains to tackle challenges and be creative problem-solvers.
My Project
STEM materials will make all the difference in our Makerspace. By giving my kids non-consumable supplies to work with, they will have no limits on their creativity and give them more opportunities to be engineers. Having a variety of options like Legos, Magnext, Marble Mazes, etc. will allow students to find their niche in building, and we will be able to make Maker Goals to focus on during our Makerspace time. They can see who will build the longest bridge, tallest tower, if you can jump a marble between two desks, and even more! There is not limit to the innovation that will happen when my second graders get these hands on these powerful learning tools.

With the amount of digital tools available and an increased amount of screen-time, I want my kids to see the value in building. During our Makerspace time, students will make a plan, select materials, and then have to build, problem solve, and learn how to persevere through challenges. They will engage parts of their brain that aren't reached through worksheets, and they will be excited to come up with ideas to get them to success.
