In order to get students excited about Computer Science, everywhere from a general interest to helping students prepare for a career in CS, my classes are hands-on and project based.
It doesn't matter if it is an introductory CS class to an AP class, allowing students to work with the technology directly solidifies the concepts in their mind.
Using hands-on learning activities, I will be able to reach students of all learning abilities. The goal is to get all students working with and exploring computer science.
My Project
The session that I have chosen to attend at the training is how to incorporate Maker activities into the classroom. Maker activities bring hands-on activities to students and engage them on multiple levels during the lesson.
In this training, I am going to learn more about the Maker pedagogy and methodology.
The training will help take the ideas of what I want to do with my students to how I can implement them into the classroom. I will get hands-on experience and lesson ideas from the training. Working with industry professionals and other teachers will allow for discussion in how to ensure that students of all skill ranges in the class will be successful.
