My Students

What I love most about our students is that they are so diverse! We have over 20 different languages spoken at home, and over 50% of our students are from low income families. Each student brings with them different ideas, experiences, challenges, and solutions. They all have the biggest hearts and they all love to use their creativity!

No matter what their home lives are like, our students come to school to ready to learn and eager to play.

Our library has puppets, games and some Lego style building blocks that the students can use during recess or library time. I have seen the students create and share plays and stories, build together with a common goal, problem solve games and teach others how to play. They don't HAVE to, they WANT to!

My Project

Students at our school come from different cultures and economic backgrounds. Many of them have little or no access to hands-on STEM activities for fun creative learning. Maker Spaces spark interest in learning and innovation at a young age and can build life long learners.

A Maker Space in our school library will allow every student a fun space for creative thinking and exploration while naturally growing their team building and problem solving skills.

Having STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activities available to students will reinforce skills taught in the classroom but in the same fun environment they already see as a creative space. It will give them more to learn, discover, question and wonder. Not because they HAVE to, because they WANT to.
