Maker Space STEM & STEAM Professional Learning Opportunity

I need help funding this professional development activity so that I can learn more about implementing hands-on experiences in the makerspace such as using high tech materials such as micro:bits, coding, and low-tech materials.

My Students

My school is very diverse with the majority of our students being Hispanic. We also have one of the worst buildings in the county but that does not stop us. Instead, we work hard to provide experiences to our students that will help them continue their education in a positive way.

One of the things that we strongly focus on is project-based learning.

I am building a maker space so that all of our students have a way to design and create projects that will use higher level thinking.

My Project

I have had the dream of creating a maker space for our school for several years now. This past summer I was fortunate enough to attend a week-long professional development class to help me get started. While at this training I learned more about the pedagogy and planning of how to implement a maker space. I have taken what I have learned back to my school where I have started applying what I have learned.

I recently found out that Infosys has created a new winter Pathfinders professional development opportunity where I can go and learn more about the hands-on part of a maker space.

This is a fantastic way to learn about different materials and products that I can include in my lesson planning.

I would love help in getting this funded so that I can advance the knowledge that I have. Thank you for your support!
